GloPoWriMo Day 13: The Oracle Casts Her Bones

Write a poem about something mysterious and spooky.

Today being a day totally devoid of inspiration, I paid another visit to the Oracle. She really made me work to get a message out of her, but it's better than a blank page (which is where I've been most of the day.)

THE ORACLE CASTS HER BONES

blue eye to eternity
poison cup secrets
her manner liquid
a baby born only wets its lips
then no life
flowering ice perfume
i listen for magic
dog eats deer
her young devour god

Oh, this is like some kind of rune being cast. I got this image of Macbeth--I think the baby made me think of Lady Macbeth.

Merril! Macbeth, now how about that - I didn't even think about it till you mentioned it. I had the devil of a time with this one. The Oracle apparently wants my brain to do some extensive work...inspiration has been running super low the last few days.

I thought Shakespeare too! Those creatures devouring one another is also Greek tragedy. Do you know you can chop the magnet words up, make new ones? You don't have to only use the whole words as they appear. The word pool isn't that extensive otherwise.

...Chop the words up? YOU CAN? No! I didn't know that! I sort of overlaid all the words on top of each other until I got what I wanted through sheer force (Sorry Oracle...)

DEVOUR US ALL, is what my brain is screaming right now when confronted with Day 14. I may need the Oracle again but p'raps a good sleep is better.

It definitely sounds mythological. Deep in the forest, dark and mysterious.

It kind of made me shudder.

Love the interaction of lines 3, 4 and 5. They could be their own poem.
